A couple massage in Amsterdam for a birthday one of you crossed a border to be at
Being there in person for a birthday is something long-distance couples never take for granted. When one of you flies in for the other's day and the two of you spend it in Amsterdam, a couple massage can be one of the ways the evening is marked.
While you read
Nothing on this page asks you to decide anything. It can be read and left alone.
Whose day it is
A birthday visit has a guest of honour and a guest who travelled, and that imbalance shapes the evening. The birthday partner should choose, or at least approve, everything about the session: the format, the length, one therapist or two. The partner who flew in can do the arranging and hold the thread, but the decisions belong to the person whose day it is.
Not a surprise, even on a birthday
A birthday seems made for surprises, and the session is the one part that cannot be one. Both of you must know about the booking and want it before the hour is confirmed; she leaves at the door if that is unclear. Surprise with the cake, the restaurant or the flight itself. Raise the couple massage as a question a week or two before, and arrange it once the answer is yes. Twenty-one or over covers the check at the door, which applies to both of you.
Placing the couple massage on the birthday
If the birthday is also the day the travelling partner lands, keep the session for the following evening; a birthday dinner and a late landing are plenty for one day. If both of you are already in the city, an evening session on the day itself works well, either before a late dinner or after an early one. Ninety minutes suits the first plan and two hours the second.
Choosing the format as a present
The birthday partner may want something never tried before, or the format they always come back to. Read the formats together on a call and let them pick. A therapist each turns the evening into something done side by side; one therapist between you means the birthday partner can choose to go first or second, as they please.
Notice and the advance half
Birthdays are known months ahead, so these bookings are usually arranged more than a day out and carry half the fee in advance, with the second half changing hands on arrival. If the birthday lands on a peak date, the roster narrows sharply, which is one more reason to write as soon as the flight is booked.
